St. Mary's Basilica

4.8 ·

Enter St. Mary's Basilica, the Gothic landmark that defines Krakow's Main Square. Look up at the richly painted interior and spend time at the carved altarpiece, then step outside for the hourly trumpet call.

📖

Full description

St. Mary's Basilica dominates the Main Square, recognisable by its two uneven Gothic towers.

The hourly trumpet call from the taller tower is a Krakow tradition. Inside, visitors come for the richly coloured interior and the large carved altarpiece, with reviewers highlighting the detail in the walls, ceiling and pillars.

A modest entry fee applies, and a typical visit takes around 45 minutes. Because it is one of the most visited sites in the city, crowds can be an issue, so timing matters for a more comfortable experience.

Reviews

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. This is why people come to Krakow! The color and the contrast is amazing. The artwork is stunning. If you're facing the church from the front (the main square), go to the right hand side to Buy the entry ticket. It will be the best money you spend in Krakow!
