Go below the Main Market Square into the Rynek Underground Museum. Walk among excavated medieval streets and stalls while multimedia displays chart Krakow's development from its early days.

📖

Full description

Beneath Krakow's Main Market Square, this museum preserves excavated medieval trading stalls, streets and a burial area, combined with multimedia presentations on the city's past. Reviewers describe real archaeological remains and plentiful information, though some find it less essential if time is short.

Practical quirks matter here: the ticket counter and the entrance are in different spots, with the entrance at the front right corner of the Cloth Hall, and tickets are often still available on site even when online sales show sold out. Allow around 90 minutes.

Reviews

Interesting historic site where you can see real excavations of a grave yard and remainings of other buildings. There's also abundant information about the city history, although the information in English is kind of scarce. I wish the native signs were all equally translated into English.
