📖

Full description

The Papyrus Collection and Papyrus Museum Vienna is a compact museum in the Innere Stadt focused on ancient papyri. Reviewers agree that it rewards those who are genuinely interested in the subject, as the number of papyri on display is small and the building itself is not especially striking.

Opinions on the visit vary, with some visitors unhappy with the service at the ticket desk. Most people need around 45 minutes, and the entry price is budget-friendly.

It suits solo travellers and specialists rather than casual sightseers.

Reviews

My opinion: this museum is only for people who are genuinely interested in the subject. Apart from a small number of papyri, there isn’t much to see (and the museum itself isn’t particularly attractive, even though it’s located in a palace). I visited for free with the NÖ Card; I wouldn’t have gone if I had to pay.
