Slip into the Burggarten, the former imperial garden tucked behind the Hofburg. Stroll its lawns and statues, find the Mozart monument, and take in the art nouveau palm house at the park's edge.

📖

Full description

Burggarten is the former private garden of the imperial court, set directly beside the Hofburg Palace in Vienna's inner city. Designed as an English-style landscape park, it combines open lawns and mature trees with statues, among them the well-known Mozart memorial.

The art nouveau palm house at its edge holds a butterfly house and a cafe-restaurant. Entry to the garden is free, and its position makes it an easy pause between sights in the historic centre.

Reviewers consistently note how well kept and quiet it feels, despite the central location.

Reviews

Very well maintained garden. It's free to enter and chill. There is also a restaurant inside. It is a very serene place right in the heart of the city.
