Full description

St Mark's Basilica is the main landmark of Piazza San Marco, with a facade of domes, stonework and exterior mosaics that is impressive even from outside. Inside, the gilded interior is covered in mosaics, and the museum tickets reviewers mention allow access up toward the top of the cathedral for a closer look at the mosaics.

Entry is budget-friendly, booking is recommended, and queues can be long, so timing matters. Allow about an hour for the interior and museum, and dress modestly as the basilica is an active place of worship.
