Go inside the Torre dell'Orologio, the Renaissance clock tower guarding Piazza San Marco. See the astronomical clock's mechanism up close, then step onto the terrace for views over the square.

📖

Full description

The Torre dell'Orologio, completed at the end of the 15th century, marks the passage from Piazza San Marco into the Mercerie shopping streets. Its blue-and-gold astronomical clock face carries symbolic decorations, and the structure is as much a statement of how Venice organised its civic space as a timepiece.

Visits take you inside the tower to see the mechanism and reach the terrace with views over the square. Booking is required, as access is limited, and the tour lasts around forty-five minutes, running mainly from late morning to mid-afternoon.
