Gülhane Park

4.7 ·

Step into Gülhane Park, the leafy former garden of Topkapı Palace beside Sultanahmet. Follow shaded paths past flower beds and a creek, and catch the tulips if you come in spring.

📖

Full description

Gülhane Park is a venerable, forested public park next to Sultanahmet, historically the outer garden of Topkapı Palace. Wide paths, gardens and a creek run through the grounds, and a science museum sits within the park.

It is best known for its spring tulips, though reviewers also find it peaceful and clean in winter, when the greenery and views carry the visit. Free to enter and open around the clock, it works well as a calm break between the nearby historic sights, with plenty of space to sit and wander for about an hour and a half.

Reviews

I visited Gulhane Park during winter, so there were no flowers blooming, but the place was still beautiful and relaxing. The park was very green, peaceful, and clean, with an amazing view and a calm atmosphere. A lovely place for walking and enjoying nature in Istanbul.
