Step into the Istanbul Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam, set in former royal stables. Examine instruments invented by Muslim scholars between the 9th and 16th centuries.

📖

Full description

Occupying former royal horse stables, this museum presents scientific and technological instruments created by Muslim scholars between the 9th and 16th centuries. The exhibition covers several fields and gives visitors a clear introduction to the achievements of Islamic schools, with good narration around the objects.

Reviewers call it one of the more educational and underrated museums in the city, though some would like more interactive displays. It is open daily and a visit takes about an hour, so it fits easily into a day around the historic peninsula.

Reviews

The exhibition is big enough yo get you acquainted with the main achievements of Islamic schools in several fields. Good narrative around the objects. Maybe more on interactive exhibitions can be done, as this is a science museum and being from the Islamic side it has way more to offer. Totally recommended
