Full description

Topkapi Palace sits on Seraglio Point above the Bosphorus and was home to the Ottoman sultans for roughly 400 years. Rather than a single building, it is a sequence of courtyards, pavilions, kitchens and treasury rooms, with the Harem forming a separate section.

Visitors describe it as enormous, with views over the water and enough material to fill several hours. Reviewers suggest allowing at least two to three hours, and some find the ticket price steep but justified by the scale.

It suits history-minded travellers and works best in the morning, before the courtyards fill.

So much to see and the gardens between the buildings made it a really pleasant place to wander and enjoy the cool breeze. The information…
