Pause at the Beethoven statue on Beethovenplatz. Look up at the seated bronze composer from 1880 and study the Prometheus and angel figures at his feet.

📖

Full description

This bronze sculptural group stands on Beethovenplatz, close to the Stadtpark station, and shows Ludwig van Beethoven seated at the centre of a stepped pedestal. Prometheus and angels are shackled at his feet in the 1880 composition.

Reviewers call it understated and note that school children often use the square as a playground, so it works as a quiet, brief stop rather than a destination in its own right. The square is open at all times and free to visit, and about 15 minutes is enough to see the sculpture and its details.

Reviews

A tribute to one of the Greats. Unfortunately, it is pretty inconspicuous and should have better reception. Currently used as a playground for school kids - wished Beethoven got more glamor and recognition like Mozart.
