Colle Oppio and Terme di Traiano Park

Colle Oppio occupies ground layered with imperial history, sitting above both the excavated remains of the Baths of Trajan and the largely buried Domus Aurea, Nero's extravagant palace, giving the park an unusual density of ancient ruins beneath its lawns and trees. Its proximity to the Colosseum makes it a natural, quieter follow-on stop after the main sites, popular with both tourists resting their feet and locals who use its drinking fountains and shaded paths daily. Cats are a fixture of the park, often seen in the same spots each day.
