Waldstein Palace (Wallenstein Palace)

4.6 ·

Step inside Waldstein Palace, the Baroque seat of the Czech Senate tucked into Malá Strana. Admire the vast ornate interiors on a Saturday, then wander the geometric gardens for a quiet half hour.

📖

Full description

Built in the 17th century for Albrecht von Wallenstein, this early Baroque palace is one of Prague's largest, and it now houses the Czech Senate. The interiors are richly detailed and enormous in scale, but they are open to visitors only on Saturdays, which makes a visit feel like a small privilege.

The geometric gardens behind the palace are open daily and offer a calm, shaded retreat just steps from the busier Malá Strana streets. Reviewers note the plain exterior hides far more impressive rooms inside.

Allow about half an hour for the interiors and a leisurely stroll through the grounds.

Reviews

Built back in the 17th century for Albrecht von Wallenstein, the early Baroque architecture is so unimaginably massive and ridiculously detailed that my jaw literally hit the floor. We actually stepped into the gorgeous garden as well. The sheer scale and historical grandeur of the palace itself are breathtaking
