Climb into Daliborka, the round tower on Prague Castle's northern edge that once held prisoners. Walk through its small interior and examine the displayed relics, including medieval torture instruments, in a compact 15-minute stop.

📖

Full description

Daliborka is a circular defensive tower built in 1496 as part of the northern fortifications of Prague Castle, later converted into a prison. It is named after its first prisoner, the knight Dalibor.

Inside, relics are on display, including instruments of torture used in the Middle Ages, which many visitors find unexpected and sobering. It sits within the castle complex in Hradčany and needs only about 15 minutes, so it works as a short, atmospheric stop between larger castle sights.

The surrounding castle grounds are open on long hours, early morning to late evening.

Reviews

I am not expecting what I saw in this place. Its hard to be in prison like this during Midde Ages. You can see the pictures attached different kinds of torture instruments used. Its name was derived from the 1st inmate names Dalibor z Kozojed At the end of the Golden Lane you can find this at the left side. Free…
