Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague

3.8 ·

Duck into the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague, a snug, offbeat museum in Malá Strana. Read up on alchemy downstairs, then follow a guide up to the tower laboratory to hear tales of Kelly and Dee.

📖

Full description

Tucked into a historic house in Malá Strana, this small museum is dedicated to the history of alchemy and its Prague connections. Visitors start with information panels downstairs, then join a guide who leads the group up to a tower laboratory, telling the story of the house and of the experiments linked to Edward Kelly and John Dee.

Opinions in reviews are mixed, with some finding it more commercial than deep, but the guide's storytelling is the part most visitors enjoy. A cafe is on site.

Reviews

After reading the book The Alchemist, this was a must for me. This is a tour of an actual alchemist laboratory. The guide did a great job of the history of Edward Kelly and Johannes Dee's expirements in this building. It was worth the trip to go here.
