Enter St Vitus Cathedral, the jewel of Prague Castle. Walk beneath Gothic vaults, study the stained-glass windows and see the chapels of Prague's patron saints.

📖

Full description

St Vitus Cathedral is the centrepiece of Prague Castle and a symbol of Czech identity. Construction began in 1344 under Charles IV and was not completed until 1929, which explains how the towering Gothic structure blends medieval and later work.

It houses the resting places of saints including Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert, as well as the state treasury. Reviewers highlight the colour and detail of the stained-glass windows as the real draw inside.

Allow about an hour, and expect it to be busy at peak times.
