Cuvilliéstheater

4.6 ·

Slip inside the Cuvilliéstheater, a tiny Rococo opera house glowing in red and gold. Take in the tiered boxes and carved decoration of one of Europe's most celebrated court theatres.

📖

Full description

The Cuvilliéstheater is a Rococo court theatre built between 1751 and 1753 to designs by François de Cuvilliés, with a deep red and gold-leaf interior and finely carved ornament. It was reconstructed after the Second World War and still hosts opera and performances.

Visitors enter through the Residenz complex, and reviewers advise following signs to a side entrance at the back of the large courtyard. The house is small, so it works best for those with a real interest in theatre or those who buy a combined Residenz ticket.

A visit takes about 45 minutes.

Reviews

Beautiful, worth it if you really like theater (it is pretty small, worth seeing it if you love theater or if you buy the whole pack they offer you at the entrance, if you only buy this and expect something huge, you might be dissapointed) I really loved it, it is impressive
