Cybele Palace

Take in Cybele Palace, the elaborate white former post office that now houses Madrid's council offices. Circle the building and the busy square in front to appreciate its ornate 1919 architecture.

📖

Full description

Cybele Palace is the ornate white building complex, originally built as the city's post office and telecommunications headquarters and completed in 1919. It now serves as council offices and anchors the Retiro side of the Cibeles junction.

The elaborate facade is the main draw, and the surrounding plaza is open at all hours, so it works as an exterior stop at any time of day, including evening when the building is lit. A visit of around 45 minutes allows time to walk around the exterior and the square and to look at the architecture from several angles.
