Campo del Moro

4.6 ·

Slip into Campo del Moro, the terraced royal gardens spread beneath the Royal Palace. Follow shaded paths past monumental fountains, hedge mazes and rose beds, pausing for views up toward the palace facade.

📖

Full description

Campo del Moro occupies the hillside below Madrid's Royal Palace, laid out as formal gardens with winding paths, streams, mature trees and two large monumental fountains. Reviewers highlight the views back up to the palace, the hedge mazes and the rose gardens, along with the careful upkeep.

The grounds are large enough that a visit comfortably fills over an hour, and the sloping terrain adds some effort to the walk. Entry is free, and the calm atmosphere makes it a quiet counterpoint to the busy centre nearby.

Exceptional retreat from the city and breathtaking views of the royal palace. There are fun hedge mazes, beautiful fountains and rose gardens. The property is exquisitely maintained. Easy to get to and plenty of places to grab a snack, meal or drink around afterwards. Highly recommend for tourists.
