Rest under the vast cypress at Príncipe Real Garden, a peaceful green square in Lisbon's elegant hillside district. Walk the shaded paths, watch the playground, and browse any market stalls set up nearby.

📖

Full description

Príncipe Real Garden is a small, leafy public garden at the heart of one of Lisbon's most elegant hillside neighbourhoods. Its centrepiece is an enormous cypress whose thick branches are held up by steel supports, forming a canopy that shades benches and paths below.

Visitors describe a tranquil, almost private feel, with a playground for children and regular events, including a makers' market and farmers' market on the outside edges. It is open around the clock and free, and the walk up involves a short uphill climb.

About 30 minutes is enough to enjoy it.

Reviews

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Felt as if this was a private garden as we walked the grounds. Tranquility. Silence. Our visit was during the offseason so I could only imagine how beautiful it must be when the flowers bloom. Recommended with enthusiasm.
