4.0 ·

Slip into the Botanical Garden of Lisbon for a calm hour among plants and trees gathered from around the world. Stroll the shaded paths, compare the different plant collections, and pair the visit with the museum next door.

📖

Full description

The Botanical Garden of Lisbon is a quiet, shaded collection of plants and trees from across the globe, laid out for slow wandering rather than quick sightseeing. It also houses a bank of rare and endangered seeds, which gives it a conservation angle beyond ornamental display.

Visitors describe a cool, calm refuge for an afternoon stroll, with clear signage in Portuguese and English and clean facilities. Opinions on upkeep are mixed, with some areas such as the arboretum described as overgrown.

A joint ticket with the neighbouring natural history museum is available.

Reviews

Nice quiet and cool place to potter around for a few hours in the afternoon and evening. Combined it the Natural History Museum which was okay but bits were only in Portuguese and some was closed or awaiting maintenance. But for the price it was a good way to spend the afternoon
