Wawel Cathedral

4.8 ·

Walk into Wawel Cathedral, where Polish kings were crowned and laid to rest. Visit the royal tombs, see the Sigismund Bell, and explore the museum on top of Wawel Hill.

📖

Full description

Wawel Cathedral is where Polish monarchs were crowned and many are buried, standing on Wawel Hill within the castle complex. Visits include the royal tombs, the Sigismund Bell and a museum.

Reviewers note that the cathedral blends into the surrounding towers, roofs and castle buildings, and one points out that its historical weight matters more than a comparison with St. Mary's interior.

A typical visit takes around 45 minutes, and a modest entry fee applies. It is a core stop for understanding Poland's royal history.

Reviews

Saw the Cathedral only from outside. It's the landmark building in Krakow. Beautiful and majestic, sitting on a hilltop next to the Wawel Royal Castle.
