Wander the terraces of Giardino delle Rose, a free hillside garden just below Piazzale Michelangelo. Stroll among rose bushes, find the Japanese garden's small cascade and spot Folon's sculptures with the city behind them.

📖

Full description

Giardino delle Rose sits on a slope just below Piazzale Michelangelo, offering rose terraces, a small Japanese garden with a little cascade, and sculptures by the artist Folon. Entry is free, and the open hillside gives views across the whole city.

It is compact and takes about half an hour, and walking effort is low. Reviewers suggest it shines in springtime, when the roses are in bloom, while summer heat can leave the beds looking tired.

Reviews

It's a small garden with some rose bushes scattered around the grounds. A few fountains and a little water cascade in the Japanese garden. It might be better in the springtime. The summer heat had burnt all the roses and it was extremely hot with few shaded spots. If you're walking up the hill, it might not be worth…
