San Niccolò occupies the eastern edge of the Oltrarno, tucked between the Arno and the hill leading up to Piazzale Michelangelo. The district retains part of Florence's medieval walls, including the Porta San Niccolò gate, and mixes artisan workshops with small bars and restaurants.
