Horne Museum

4.6 ·

Slip into the Horne Museum, a collector's private palazzo turned into a quiet Florentine gem. Wander rooms of medieval paintings, sculpture and period furnishings, and enjoy the house itself as much as the masterpieces on its walls.

📖

Full description

The Horne Museum occupies a palazzo that the English architect and collector Herbert Horne bought and turned into a home for his private collection. Visitors walk through rooms of medieval and Renaissance paintings, sculpture, antiques and period furniture, including everyday household objects.

Reviewers find it larger than expected, well preserved and quietly displayed, with the building itself as much a draw as the art. Its modest size and low crowds make it a calm contrast to Florence's big-name museums, and about 45 minutes is enough to see it comfortably.
