Kongens Nytorv

4.5 ·

Start your Copenhagen walk at Kongens Nytorv, the city's grand cobbled square. Circle the Christian V statue, take in the Royal Danish Theatre and Hotel d'Angleterre, and rest on a bench among the flower beds.

📖

Full description

Kongens Nytorv is the central square where Copenhagen's old town meets Nyhavn, laid out around a bronze equestrian statue of King Christian V. Its edges hold the Royal Danish Theatre, Hotel d'Angleterre and the Kunsthal Charlottenborg exhibition space, giving the plaza a formal, theatrical character.

Visitors mention flower beds, plenty of benches and people simply sitting to watch the city pass. Because several transit lines, sightseeing buses and boat and walking tours start or stop here, it works as an orientation point as much as a sight.

A quick look takes around 15 minutes, though many linger for coffee or a meal nearby.

Reviews

One of the prettiest places to visit in Copenhagen!! The flowers looked extremely beautiful! There are so many benches for you to seat and rest.
