Tabán

Stroll through Tabán, the green hollow between Gellért Hill and Castle Hill. Follow park paths and the few remaining old lanes, taking in the quiet atmosphere and views toward the Danube.

📖

Full description

Tabán lies in the hollow between Gellért Hill and Castle Hill on the Buda bank, a district that was once a lively settlement of inns and small trades before much of it was cleared in the twentieth century. Today it feels more like a green pocket than a dense neighbourhood, with parkland, a few surviving old streets, and paths leading up to the surrounding hills.

Its location makes it a natural link between the river, the Castle District, and Gellért Hill. The mood is relaxed and scenic, good for an easy walk that mixes history, greenery, and city views.
