Sándor Palace

4.6 ·

See Sándor Palace, the neoclassical seat of Hungary's president on Castle Hill. Admire the facade from the square and, if timing works, watch the guard ceremony outside.

📖

Full description

Sándor Palace is a neoclassical building completed in 1806 on Castle Hill in Buda, now serving as the office and residence of the President of Hungary. Visitors mostly see it from outside, and the main draw is the changing of the guard ceremony, which reviewers say is worth catching though some found it modest.

It stands on the approach to the Royal Palace, close to other government buildings of the castle district. It is a short stop that suits a walk through the area rather than a dedicated trip.

Reviews

We saw this building from outside as we were told that the "change of guard" ceremony especially at noon time is something not to be missed. Well, it was good but did not meet our expectations. Worth seeing only if you are there around this time. There is no fee and the place wasn't very crowded.
