Heroes' Square

4.7 ·

Take in Heroes' Square, Budapest's great ceremonial plaza at the end of Andrássy Avenue. Read the statues of Hungary's founding chiefs and kings, then walk on into City Park.

📖

Full description

Heroes' Square forms the grand entrance to City Park and sits at the end of Andrássy Avenue, part of a UNESCO World Heritage setting. Its central Millennium Monument is topped by a tall column and flanked by colonnades holding statues of Hungarian kings and national figures, with the seven tribal chiefs who founded the nation grouped at the base.

The Museum of Fine Arts and the Műcsarnok gallery frame the sides. Reviewers note it is easy to reach by public transport and works well combined with the nearby park and lake.

Must-visit landmark in Budapest! Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) is truly impressive. The grand statues of Hungary’s national leaders and the Millennium Monument create a magnificent setting, especially on a sunny day. A fantastic, spacious spot for photos and a key piece of Budapest’s heritage. Highly recommended!
