Museum/arts/culture
The Alte Nationalgalerie occupies a colonnaded neoclassical temple on Museum Island, devoted to 19th-century painting from German Romanticism through French Impressionism. A perfect must-see, culture, and aesthetic score, alongside a 4.5-star rating from over 10,000 reviews, confirm its place among Berlin's essential museums, with visitors frequently naming it the highlight of their entire trip. Some reviewers note the collection skews heavily toward male artists, though several point out the museum itself acknowledges this imbalance within its own exhibition texts. Its modest hidden-gem score simply reflects how firmly it sits on the well-trodden Museum Island circuit rather than any shortcoming in the collection.

"This girl loves a German museum!!! It’s an impressive (impressionist) collection. Still very man/creep-heavy, but they acknowledged it in the exhibits which allows for patrons to recognize and contemplate the artists and perspectives not on display at the museum. Honestly, i was hoping to go to the Deutsches Historisches Museum (i adore it)… but for the second time, it’s still closed. This was a great Plan B after my initial disappointment."
