Full description

Casa Padellàs is a relocated Gothic noble house on Plaça del Rei that serves as the entry point to the Barcelona History Museum, leading visitors down through three floors of maps and artefacts before opening onto the excavated remains of Roman Barcino beneath the square. With a perfect 100 on both must-see and culture scores and a 4.6-star rating across more than 5,500 reviews, it's regarded as one of the strongest history museums in the city, if not the country.

The underground Roman ruins are the highlight, offering a genuinely rare walk through ancient street layouts, laundries, and wine-making facilities. It rewards visitors with a real interest in urban history more than those after a quick photo stop.

Reviews

One of the best museums in Spain. 3 floors about the history of Barcelona with maps and artefacts everywhere. Then you get to visit the ruins of the original Roman city underneath the museum. This is acres wide and has all the support signs and video to get a great understanding of what it was like. Highly recommended.
