Industrial Gas Museum

4.2 ·

Explore the Industrial Gas Museum, a preserved gasworks that tells a lesser-known chapter of Athens. Walk among well-kept machines once used to produce gas and, if you time it right, join a guided tour.

📖

Full description

The Industrial Gas Museum occupies a former gasworks site and preserves nearly all of the machinery once needed to produce gas, much of it in good condition. It belongs to the modern industrial history of Athens and gives a rare look at how a city's energy was once made.

The complex also hosts events, signalled by yellow stickers on building doors, and guided tours run fairly often for a small fee per person. Reviewers advise confirming access in advance, as some visitors have found the buildings closed and needed to ask staff to open the exhibition.

Reviews

Almost all machines required for gas production are visible and in good condition. Sometimes there are events on the same areal, look out for the yellow stickers at the doors of the Buildings. There you can enter.
