📖

Full description

Benizelos Mansion is regarded as the oldest surviving house in Athens, tucked away from the busy streets of the Plaka. Its rooms and courtyard preserve the layout and character of a wealthy Ottoman-era home, and it is run as a small museum of the city's domestic history.

Entry is free, though staff ask for a donation at the door. Visitors describe it as a fascinating, atmospheric step back in time that takes only about twenty minutes, making it a quick detour on a walk through the old quarter.

Reviews

Free, but the guy at the entry door asks for a donation, and wants it donated BEFORE you enter and see the place. How will I know if I liked it enough to donate? It was worth 1€ to find out. Took maybe 15 mins to look at the rooms, the interactive "computer" stuff didn't work, and the video had the "buffering"…
