Seven Houses

4.3 ·

Seek out the Seven Houses, a lesser-known architectural oddity in Amsterdam-West. Walk the pavement along the row and compare each facade, every one designed in its own distinct country-house style.

📖

Full description

The Seven Houses are a short row of neighbouring homes designed by the architect Tjeerd Kuipers, each built in a different style so that the terrace reads like a catalogue of country-house ideas. They sit in a residential part of Amsterdam-West, close to a park, and are viewed from the public pavement rather than entered.

Visitors describe them as a quick, quirky detour, and architecture fans come specifically to compare the facades. Few people stay long, which makes it an easy add-on to a walk in the area.

Reviews

Really beautiful to see these 7 houses next to each other. Architectual delight! I was surprised to see many people, especially tourists, visiting the houses. Also, that many of them were youngsters. Than I became aware that this is a touristic attraction.
