Vienna City Hall

Take in Vienna City Hall, a neo-Gothic landmark built from some 30 million bricks. Admire the towers and the Rathausmann above, then step into the ceremonial halls and corridors of a building still in daily civic use.

📖

Full description

Vienna City Hall is a neo-Gothic civic palace whose soaring towers and detailed facade are topped by the Rathausmann on the central spire. Its construction used some 30 million bricks, and it remains an active municipal building with ceremonial halls and vaulted corridors that reviewers say feel lived-in rather than museum-like.

The square in front of it regularly hosts events, markets and food stalls, including film festival evenings. A visit is short, around 20 minutes, with minimal walking, and the interior is free to enter during weekday hours.

Reviews

Central place. Beautiful architecture. Some local festivals are being organized at the square. We were there for Vienna Film Festival events in the evening. There were varied food trucks and bars and live concert huge screen. Interesting place to feel local vibe.
