St. Stephen's Cathedral

4.7 ·

Stand beneath the Gothic spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the symbol of Vienna. Walk the nave, admire the colourful patterned roof from the square, and explore the catacombs and treasury if time allows.

📖

Full description

St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Stephansdom, is the Gothic heart of Vienna, instantly recognisable by its steep roof of coloured, patterned tiles and its tall south tower.

Inside, visitors can explore the nave and side chapels, while additional ticketed areas include the catacombs and a treasury museum. It is open from early morning until late evening, making it easy to fit into almost any itinerary.

Reviewers call it a landmark you cannot skip in the city, and the surrounding square is a natural hub for the old town. Allow around 45 minutes to see the main interior.
