Santa Cruz, Seville

Lose yourself in Santa Cruz, Seville's atmospheric old Jewish quarter beside the cathedral. Follow its narrow whitewashed lanes to orange-tree plazas and hidden patios, and stop for tapas.

📖

Full description

Santa Cruz is the former Jewish quarter of Seville, set beside the cathedral and the Real Alcázar, and it is among the city's most visited and photographed districts. Its narrow, winding streets open onto small plazas shaded by orange trees, with wrought-iron balconies, flower-filled patios and whitewashed walls creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere.

Tapas bars and small shops fill the lanes, and getting pleasantly lost is part of the appeal. It works especially well for couples and first-time visitors, and rewards a slow, unhurried wander of around ninety minutes.
