The Old-New Synagogue

4.3 ·

Enter the Old-New Synagogue, one of Europe's oldest Gothic houses of Jewish worship. Take in the 13th-century interior and hear the legend of the Golem that Prague's Jewish Quarter has kept alive.

📖

Full description

Standing in the Jewish Quarter of Staré Město, the Old-New Synagogue is a Gothic place of worship completed in 1270 and linked in local legend to the Golem of Prague. Visitors enter through security checks, which some find tedious after visiting several sites, and the ticket price draws mixed comments, with a few reviewers calling it steep.

Others value the depth of the Jewish history on display and recommend the combined ticket with audio explanation for context on the community's role in the city. The synagogue is closed on Saturdays, and a visit takes about 30 minutes.

Reviews

Very Very Very expensive for the value of the money. You can spend your money in many other historical attractions and places in Prague. Too expensive, they should reduce prices at least 50%… not worth the hype.
