Emmaus Monastery

4.6 ·

Slip into Emmaus Monastery, one of Prague's quietest historic corners. Walk the cloister to see its medieval frescoes, then step into the church to find early 20th-century Beuronese art.

📖

Full description

Emmaus Monastery, home to Beuronese Benedictine monks, combines an early Medieval foundation with a contemporary roof that replaced the structure lost to Allied bombing in the Second World War. The main draw is the cloister, whose medieval frescoes are widely praised by visitors, while the monastery church holds remains of early 20th-century Beuronese art.

It is a quiet, uncrowded stop in the New Town, often nearly empty even in busy seasons. Visits are short, and the interior has a strict photography policy.
