Porto Cathedral

4.6 ·

Climb to Porto Cathedral, the Romanesque landmark watching over the old town. Step inside its stone interior, walk the Gothic cloisters and look for the rose window.

📖

Full description

Porto Cathedral sits on a hill above the old town, a massive stone building whose Romanesque character gives the interior a fortress-like feel. A rose window and the Gothic cloisters are among its highlights, and reviewers note that the architecture shows several periods layered together.

There is an entrance fee for the cloisters and interior, and a combined ticket with the nearby Episcopal Palace is available, which reviewers consider good value. The terrace outside also gives wide views over the city, and a visit usually takes about 30 minutes.

Reviews

Amazing value for money! A must-visit in Porto I highly recommend this place, especially given the cheap admission fee. There was so much more to see than I expected, and the azulejos (blue tiles) were absolutely beautiful. With an entrance fee this reasonable, you should definitely add it to your itinerary!
