Pass through Sendlinger Tor, a surviving medieval gate on the edge of Munich's old town. Admire its twin brick towers, then follow the shopping streets towards Marienplatz.

📖

Full description

Sendlinger Tor is one of the surviving medieval gates of Munich, a red-brick structure with two towers dating to the 14th century and since restored. It stands at the southern edge of the old town, opening onto a plaza with a fountain, and sits in the middle of a busy shopping area well served by public transport.

Reviewers mention seasonal markets that appear around it, and the gate catches attractive afternoon light. From here, Marienplatz is roughly a ten-minute walk through the pedestrian streets.
