Step inside the Glyptothek, Munich's oldest public museum and a temple of Neoclassical design. Follow a clear route past classical sculptures collected by King Ludwig I, finishing at the shop's replicas.

📖

Full description

The Glyptothek was commissioned by King Ludwig I and designed by Leo von Klenze, and it is Munich's oldest public museum and a leading example of Neoclassical architecture. Inside, a clearly structured route leads through his collection of classical sculpture, with replicas available in the shop.

Reviewers recommend it as a quick, rewarding stop for anyone who likes sculpture and notes that Sunday entry costs just one euro. About an hour is enough, and the calm galleries suit solo visitors well.

It forms part of the city's museum quarter.

Reviews

Excellent customer service, great if you're looking for something quick to do and like sculptures, they sell several replicas as well, we visited on a Sunday so it only cost 1€ and it's definitely worth visiting since there are many such museums within a short walking distance.
