Lope de Vega Casa Museo

4.7 ·

Visit the Lope de Vega Casa Museo, the preserved home of one of Spain's greatest playwrights. Walk through period-furnished rooms, then slow down in the secluded garden behind the house.

📖

Full description

This house museum preserves the restored 17th-century residence where Lope de Vega, the most prolific Spanish dramatist of the Golden Age, lived. Rooms are arranged with period furniture and artworks, and the small garden is often described as a quiet oasis in the middle of the Literary Quarter.

Reviewers recommend the free guided tour for its depth on the writer's life and era, though some find the house small and wish for more rare items on display. Booking is advisable, and 45 minutes is enough for the house and garden.

It suits couples and literature lovers.

Reviews

Very authentic and worth visiting but too small, I would recommend to extend the exhibition, with some collection(s) of rare items, like paintings, armory, ceramics, cameos, or rare books. Maybe to add some displays with info on the exposed items.
