Notting Hill

Notting Hill's rows of candy-coloured Victorian houses, especially around Lancaster Road and Elgin Crescent, have made it one of the most photographed corners of London, a reputation cemented by the 1999 film of the same name. Portobello Road hosts one of the world's largest antiques markets on Saturdays, its stalls giving way to fruit, vinyl, and street food further down the hill. The area is also home to Europe's biggest street festival, the Notting Hill Carnival, a Caribbean-rooted celebration held every August Bank Holiday that traces back to the neighbourhood's Windrush-generation community. Today it's largely affluent and quiet outside market days and carnival weekend.
