St. Joseph's Church

4.8 ·

Cross the river to St. Joseph's Church, a neo-Gothic landmark towering over Podgórze. Admire the brick facade and copper roofs, step in for a quiet moment, and enjoy the views around it.

📖

Full description

St. Joseph's Church rises above the Podgórze district with a neo-Gothic brick facade, a tall bell tower and copper roofs, built in the early 1900s.

Reviewers praise the architecture and the calm interior, and some highlight the views from the area around the church rather than anything inside. Entry is free and a visit takes about 15 minutes.

It makes a good addition to a day in Podgórze, on the south bank of the Vistula, for visitors who want to see a part of Krakow beyond the Old Town.

Reviews

If you could visit only one church in Krakow - this is the one. Not for what you see inside, but for the breathtaking views around it outside. It's architecture is one of a kind neo-gothicism gem. The park on a hill behind the church is a musem of sculpure on its own. Exceptionally taken care of and a piece of art.
