Discover the natural history museum of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow's Stare Miasto. Study carefully displayed specimens and bones, peer at live fish, a tarantula and a scorpion, and watch rocks glow in the dark.

📖

Full description

This small museum belongs to the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals of the Polish Academy of Sciences and presents collections linked to the natural world. Visitors describe neatly arranged, well-preserved specimens, bones and an aquarium, plus a few live animals such as fish, a tarantula and a scorpion.

Glow-in-the-dark rocks are a reviewer favourite. Entrance is inexpensive, the rooms are clean and well kept, and it is small enough to see in about 45 minutes, which suits a quiet stop in the Old Town area.

Reviews

Very nice museum but pretty small. Still, very interesting with nice exhibitions and some live animals (fish, tarantula, scorpion). Quite well areabged and clean. The rocks that glow in the dark were very interesting with changing colours.
