📖

Full description

Kilic Ali Pasha Mosque is a domed mosque from the 1500s, valued for its tilework, calligraphy and the courtyard with its marble fountain. It is free to enter and open at all hours as a place of worship, and visitors consistently praise the quality of the interior decoration from floor to ceiling.

The courtyard can be admired even when worshippers are praying inside. A visit takes about 20 minutes and slots easily into a walk along the waterfront in Tophane.

Visitors should follow standard mosque etiquette and respect prayer times.

Reviews

I didn’t go here for prayer, just a quick stop to admire the architecture. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and everything from floor to ceiling was beautiful and impressive. The woman at the front lent me a head covering and helped me put it on.
