Galata Bridge

4.6 ·

Cross Galata Bridge, the beating heart of Istanbul's waterfront between the old city and Galata. Stroll among fishermen and vendors with the skyline on one side and the Bosphorus on the other.

📖

Full description

Galata Bridge links the old city with the Galata side across the Golden Horn and works as a place to be rather than just a crossing. Walkers share the upper deck with anglers, while cafes and restaurants sit on the level below.

One side looks toward the historic skyline of mosques and palaces, the other toward the Bosphorus. It is open around the clock and free, and a crossing takes about twenty minutes unless you stop to watch the fishing or the traffic of ferries.

Reviewers single out sunset and the evening hours as the best moments to be on it.

Reviews

Walking across the Galata Bridge is one of the best ways to truely experience Istanbul. On one side, you have views of the historic skyline with mosques and palaces, and on the other, the Bosphorus filled with ferries and boats. You'll see locals fishing from the bridge. The lower level has several seafood restaurants…
