Semel Street Food

4.8 ·

Seek out Semel Street Food, a tiny sandwich counter near the market that locals and in-the-know visitors love. Pick a couple of small, crusty-roll sandwiches and a little glass of house red, and eat fast and well in about twenty minutes.

📖

Full description

Semel Street Food is a very small sandwich shop tucked into an out-of-the-way spot near a market, and reviewers keep returning to the same appeal: simple fillings such as ham, cheese and tomato on fresh crusty bread rolls, done well. The sandwiches are on the small side, which is why visitors say you will want to try more than one, and the house red is served in little glasses at very low prices.

The owner speaks good English and is described as inviting and welcoming. With a 4.8 rating and a visit of around 20 minutes, it works as a quick, local lunch stop rather than a sit-down meal.

Reviews

Possibly the best sandwich I've ever eaten, washed down with an excellent 1euro glass of house red wine. An interesting and unusual choice on the menu, you'll want to try more than one. This felt like a spot for locals but it was also recommended in a certain well known guide book. Absolutely fantastic.
