The Little Mermaid

4.1 ·

Meet Copenhagen's most famous statue, the Little Mermaid, perched on her rock at Langelinie. Follow the harbour promenade to reach her, then take a few minutes for photos and the waterfront view.

📖

Full description

The Little Mermaid sits on a rock by the water at Langelinie, a bronze figure by Edvard Eriksen based on the character from H.C. Andersen's fairytale.

Reviewers are candid that she is small and a little weathered, so the appeal lies in the symbolism and the setting along the harbour promenade rather than in spectacle. The walk from the Nyhavn area follows the waterfront on a combined walking and cycling path, passing other sights en route.

It is open at all hours, free, and a typical stop takes around 20 minutes.

Reviews

I have been in Copenhagen a few times. This is the first time I got a chance to visit the Little Mermaid. Beautiful statue and it’s bigger than I’ve expected. Nice area to explore besides the Little Mermaid.
