Wen Cheng

4.6 (3,227)$$ · Mid-range

Wen Cheng has built a considerable local following, and its high local score alongside nearly 3,300 reviews reflects a restaurant that residents return to rather than a one-off tourist stop. Reviewers consistently praise the noodle dishes and attentive service, though the queue is famous enough that regulars plan around it. At a mid-range price and just an hour needed per visit, it works well for a casual, satisfying lunch or dinner rather than a special-occasion meal. Its modest culture and hidden-gem scores fit a restaurant that's well-known locally rather than obscure or historic.

✨ Reasons to go

  • 1Known for hand-pulled noodles, with the lamb cumin noodles singled out by reviewers
  • 2Popular enough with locals that queues are a known feature, best avoided by visiting off-peak like Sunday at 5pm

💡 Good to know

  • 1Go outside peak hours (a Sunday at 5pm reportedly avoided the wait) to skip the queue
  • 2the noodle dishes are the ones to order
  • 3a table is faster to get without a reservation, so just walk in

What people say

"I really enjoyed the food at Wen Cheng. I have heard that the queue for a table can be long but we went on a Sunday at 17:00 and we didn’t have to wait to be seated. We got to sit outside which was lovely. We had the tofu & shiitake biang biang noodles and the orange chicken when cheng. Both were amazing but we both agreed that the orange chicken was our favourite. It is the definition of comfort food. Can’t wait to try it again soon!"
